HAVING THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING EXPERIENCES ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO GUARANTEE SUCCESS IN YOUR JOB APPLICATION.

Most job applications start with the basic process of "applying for the Job".

Your first strategy is to ensure you will be called to attend a Job Interview.

For this you have to "Market and Advertise" yourself.

IT IS HOW WELL YOU HAVE ADVERTISED YOURSELF IN YOUR RESUME that is going to determine whether or not you will receive that call....the call for you to attend the Job Interview.

Some Employers conduct a preliminary interview by telephone before the actual face-to-face Job Interview.

A Jobseeker must never under estimate the importance and role of a RESUME and telephone interview in any Job Application.

Always research your prospective Employer. Company Profiles are the best sources..... So get one.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE JOB INTERVIEW?

  1. Do you have a copy of the application you submitted for this Job?
  2. Do you have a copy of your Resume?
  3. Do you have a copy of the Company Profile of this prospective Employer?
  4. Do you have a Pen and sufficient writing paper, in case you may need to make notes or present information in written form?
  5. Do you know who is going to interview you?
  6. Do you know location details of the interview site?

ARRIVING FOR THE INTERVIEW.

  1. Always arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointed time.
  2. Ensure you are hand carrying all the required documents.
  3. Ensure you are properly dressed up for the Job interview.
  4. Ensure all calls of nature can be postponed for the next one hour.
  5. Ensure your are not nervous or hurried.

DURING THE INTERVIEW.

1. Before entering the Interview Room.

  1. Do not forget to knock the door before entering the Interview Room?
  2. Do not forget to seek permission to enter the Interview Room?

2. Before taking your seat before the Interviewer.

  1. Do not forget to greet the Interviewer.
  2. Do not forget to smile. Its costs nothing but can bring in huge dividends.

3. Introduce yourself.

  1. Do not forget to introduce yourself. Of course the Interviewer knows who you are....a re-introduction helps thaw "Interview Tensions".
  2. Do not forget to sit properly.

4. Seating your self during the Interview.

  1. Sit upright......Do not slouch.
  2. Face the Interviewer.
  3. Beware your Body Language.
  4. Establish eye contact with the Interviewer.

5. During the Interview.

  1. Listen carefully to the questions before answering.
  2. Do not show that you are nervous.
  3. Be confident.
  4. Show enthusiasm.
  5. Stay focused.
  6. Be honest.

6. Negotiating your Remunerations.

  1. Do not sound too greedy- you don't want to lose this opportunity do you?
  2. Do not get short -changed- you don't want to be underpaid, do you?
  3. Do not forget to ask about fringe benefits, Vacation Leave, Work Policies.....etc
  4. Do not forget to calculate in terms of costs of living, transport, and net savings?
  5. If you are serious about landing this job- get serious and sound serious.

7. After the Interview.

  1. Do not forget to say thank you.
  2. Do not forget to ask permission to leave.
  3. Do not forget to ask if it would be possible for you to follow up on the outcome of the interview.
